Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik recently launched the ‘Nutana Unnata Abhilasha Odisha’ scholarship program aimed at supporting higher education students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
VK Pandian, a senior official, announced scholarship amounts for various student categories, ranging from Rs 9,000 to Rs 11,000. The scholarships will be disbursed to eligible students’ bank accounts by March 5, benefiting a total of 28,112 students in three districts.
The scholarship amounts are as follows:
– General students: Rs 9,000
– OBC students: Rs 10,000
– SC/ST students: Rs 10,000
– ‘Nirman Shramik’ students: Rs 11,000
The state government’s next initiative is the ‘Nabin Odisha Magic Card,’ introduced by Pandian, which is a points-based smart card designed to actively engage and empower youth by promoting academic development, personality growth, skill enhancement, and employment opportunities.
Individuals can earn points through various activities, and the cards will be upgraded to higher levels such as ‘Silver,’ ‘Gold,’ and ‘Platinum’ based on the accumulated points.
The ‘Nabin Odisha Magic Card’ will provide users with access to amenities, including discounted transportation, phone recharge, online academic courses, tuition classes, “earn while you learn” opportunities, volunteering prospects, and entry to stadiums during national and international matches.
Pandian mentioned that the government plans to collaborate with the private sector to enhance the benefits available to students through these smart cards. Online registration for the card is set to begin on March 5, with card distribution scheduled to commence on August 15, 2024.
