The Odisha Public Service Commission recently sent shockwaves through the aspirant community by increasing the total OCS vacancies from 314 to 465. While the “Big Two”—Administrative and Police Services—get the limelight, the 151 newly added posts have created a strategic advantage for those who look beyond the surface.
Why Focus on “Hidden” Vacancies?
Most candidates fail because they only prepare for the “prestige” of the OAS/OPS. However, the Group-B services listed below offer Pay Level 10 (Cell-1) salaries starting at ₹44,900, with perks and career growth that rival the top tier.
Analysis of the 7 Hidden Gems
Here are the seven services you should prioritize in your preference list to maximize your selection chances:
| Service Name | Vacancy Count | Why It’s “Hidden” |
| 1. Odisha Taxation & Accounts Service | 176 | Massive volume, yet often ignored by non-commerce students (it’s open to ALL graduates!). |
| 2. Odisha Labour Service | 98 | High vacancy count but perceived as “field-heavy”; offers incredible grassroots impact. |
| 3. Odisha Revenue Service (ORS) | 54 | Often seen as “clerical” by outsiders, but ORS officers are the backbone of local governance. |
| 4. Odisha Welfare Service | 16 | A “quiet” service with massive departmental growth potential in the coming years. |
| 5. Odisha Skill Dev. & Employment | 10 | A new-age service perfect for tech-savvy candidates interested in the “Skilled-in-Odisha” mission. |
| 6. Odisha Tourism Service | 08 | Low competition due to niche perception; ideal for those passionate about Odisha’s heritage. |
| 7. Odisha Transport Service | 08 | Often overshadowed, but offers significant regulatory authority and prestige. |
