PM Modi Launches Rs 68,000 Crore Development Initiatives in Odisha

Development in Odisha: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated development projects worth more than Rs 68,000 crore in Odisha on Saturday, focusing on the energy sector, including natural gas, coal, and power generation.

The projects also encompassed important initiatives in the road, railway, and higher education sectors.PM Modi highlighted the significance of these projects for Odisha’s development, emphasizing the benefits across various sections of society and the creation of new employment opportunities.

During the event, he announced the government’s decision to confer the Bharat Ratna on former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani, recognizing his significant contributions to the nation.

PM Modi praised Advani’s distinguished career in various ministerial roles and his decades of parliamentary experience. Additionally, the Prime Minister acknowledged ongoing efforts to make Odisha a hub for education and skill development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the transformative impact of modern educational institutions like IISER Berhampur, the Institute of Chemical Technology in Bhubaneshwar, and IIM Sambalpur on the youth of Odisha.

He highlighted the establishment of IIM Sambalpur as a significant step in strengthening the state’s role in education and management. PM Modi praised the completion of IIM Sambalpur despite challenges during the pandemic.

He stressed the goal of developing all states for achieving a developed India and outlined the central government’s efforts, including substantial investments in Odisha’s petroleum and petrochemicals sector, railway development, rural roads, and national highways.

The Prime Minister underscored the positive impact of policies on Odisha’s income, including a tenfold increase and the effective utilization of mining revenue through the District Mineral Foundation for local development.

PM Modi inaugurated supercritical and ultra-supercritical thermal plants, ensuring adequate and affordable electricity for Odisha. The event was attended by Odisha Governor Raghubar Das, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, and Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Ashwini Vaishnaw.
